Labor & Birth Support

There is so much to know when it comes to pregnancy, labor and birth.  The information alone is enough to overwhelm anyone, not to mention all of the options and choices that are available.  When birthing people and their families are in the moment, it is not the most convenient time to recall things that were learned in classes or from books.  Doulas are keepers of that knowledge, with the added advantage of also supporting your choices and caring for you through the process.

- Imagine this -

You think you're in labor, but you're not sure.  Do you call your care provider? What if it's a false alarm?  How can you know if it's real labor?  So, you call your doula.  She asks a few questions and listens to everything you have to say.  You feel more calm and prepared, knowing she has your back. Things are starting to ramp up so your doula meets you at your birthing place.  She offers position changes and comfort measures to help ease the sensations of labor.  She explains medical jargon and procedures as they come up, and helps remind you of your choices in each case. She takes over physical support during labor to allow your partner time to rest and eat some lunch. She is there through the whole process as constant support and even drops by for a quick visit once you're home and settled.

Labor and birth support is primarily for birthing people, but also extends to their loved ones as well.  YOUR doulas meet with all those involved prenatally to discuss birth preferences, offer pertinent evidence-based information, and develop a comfortable and trusting relationship.  During labor and delivery, we will be present to support you physically, emotionally, and to advocate for your goals and wishes - keeping you front and center through the whole process.  Whatever your preferences may be, we want to help facilitate a positive and empowering birth experience.
